The Wine cellar Krsko nourishes its wines in the castle cellars, located in the old castle, where the counts Auersperg once lived. In the 18th century the economy of Srajbarski turn or the castle Leskovec near Krsko was at its peak. In 1770, the today well preserved Wine cellar Krsko was built and it then harboured various, mostly white wines. Their vineyards were primarily in the near surroundings, the rich archive about this land is preserved in the fond Srajbarski turn at the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia in Ljubljana.
Throughout history and owners, mostly the family Auersperg, we reach the 19th century and the poet Anastazij Grun, the owner of Srajbarski turn, whose real name was Anton Aleksander Auersperg. Among his famous teachers was also the greatest Slovenian poet France Preseren, who visited his student at his castle and his wine cellar several times. A letter is kept at the National and University Library in Ljubljana, in which count Auersperg reminds Preseren about his debt for the wine Preseren »carried away« from the Auersperg cellar. Our visitors are always told this story as we take them down into the central cvicek cellar that is also the main motif on its bottle. Who knows if the famous lines were not created right behind these mighty arches: ''The vintage, friends, is over, and here sweet wine makes once again ..."
In the old part of the castle cellar the main cvicek cellar and archive is located, in the modernised upper cellar white wines mature, while in the Barrique wine barrels of the wine-tasting room you can find the many award winning Blaufränkisch Prestige. We will be glad to take you through the old castle wine cellar. You are invited to the wine-tasting in the pleasant atmosphere! We will be pleased to organise the tour of the cellar and wine-tasting for smaller and larger groups.
